2.1.6 - October 2008
- Fixed up French localisation - thanks Yann!
2.1.5 - August 2008
- Fixed: a bug which may cause improper reading of calendars
- Added: Sparkle library - helps to make upgrading easier
- Changed: Did some optimisation of the event reading code - should be a bit faster. Work still needs to be done to make this better.
2.1.4 - 15 January 2008
- Bug fix: Something related to Leopard has meant that repeated events get removed.2.1.3 - 22 November 2007
- Leopard-only bug fix: IMAP and CalDAV calendars (those used in Mail) can now be seen (thanks to Nils Beck for pointing out how to fix it, and all of you who emailed in to tell me about it and help out!).2.1.2 - 31 October 2007
- Leopard-only bug fix: subscription calendars can now be seen.2.1.1 - October 2007
- On some computers, the third-party software used for serial-number checking creates many copies of the folder, "EWSMac.framework" in the Trash. This is a bug, but needs to be fixed by the third-party. I have reverted to an earlier version of the software, which seems to have fixed the problem.- Some people have reported that the to do's weren't updating. I think it is fixed now.
2.1.0 - September 2007
- Changed the internal scheduling. No longer need the "update every x seconds" control as updates are now automatic.- Added code to work with Leopard.
- Added person's age to Address Book birthday events - thanks to Jürgen Groth for the suggestion!
- Added an option to not display birthday photos in the events.
- Added a popup to allow selection of the display the desktop window goes on - too many people to mention want better multiple-monitor support - thanks everybody!
- Added a button to allow both events and all-day events to be positioned at the top or the bottom of the display.
- Added the ability to select the menubar icon you prefer.
- Lots of bug fixes... (thanks to Gavin McGimpsey for testing and pointing several out!)
2.0.8 - February 2007
- Fix: Putting, for example "iCV++ 6 months" in an event's note, but omitting the space after the 6 would crash iCalViewer.- Fix: The "Show relative times" setting stopped working at some stage.
- Fix: When first showing the Calendars in the preferences, the details would not be properly updated.
- Added: Chinese (Simplified) event display (thanks Ryan!!)
2.0.7 - 15 October 2006
- Added an option to display time remaining or time since started for a running event.- Fix: Some third-party applications produce event information in a different format to iCal. iCalViewer 2.0.6 doesn't like these particular events (it hangs), but this version does (to the best of my knowledge).
- Fix: There should be no more intermediate files left in the Trash...
- Fix: Re-enabled the eSellerate direct purchasing method.
- Fix: Double-clicking on events should now work (better). N.B. it is not possible to select a particular recurrence of a recurring event. In this version, I am testing showing the day that the recurrence is on. Please tell me if you find this unsatisfactory.
- Fix: Clicking on the background of the "Expose" view will dismiss "Expose" mode.
Older Notes:
2.0.6 (8 February 2006)
• Fix: A couple of big-time memory problems in 2.0.5. Sorry!
• Added an option to place events at the top of the window.
2.0.5 (26 January 2006)
• Now a 'Universal' application. Testing has only been able to be done on a pre-release machine, so if you have any trouble, please get in touch!
• Fix: Some people were experiencing problems where all-day event would slip up under the menubar. I believe this is now fixed.
• Change: 'Appears over screen saver' is now on by default. Some people may need to switch it off if that's the way it was before. The change was because some new users have asked where the screen saver is and have had to direct them to the checkbox, so it's probably better to have the feature on by default and allow people who don't want it to turn it off.
2.0.4 (8 July 2005)
• Tiger compatibility.
• Because of changes in Tiger, the colours of events and to-do's in iCalViewer are no-longer exactly the same as in iCal - they are an approximation, but should be pretty close. If you have a problem, please email me.
Versions above 2.0 are for Tiger and above. A 1.x version will be maintained for people who use 10.2 and 10.3, but all future development work will be done on 2.x. This is the reason for updating the version number without providing any new features.
1.1.4 (17 March 2005)
• Fix: a repeating event, every 'x'th weekday of the month (generated by a non-iCal application), would cause a hang.
• Added partial Portuguese (Brazilian) localisation, thanks to Giovanni Mancuso! If yours is different, please get in touch...
• Added partial Spanish localisation, thanks to Javi Burón!
• Changed the changeover from hours:minutes to minutes:seconds to within five minutes of 'now'.
1.1.3
• There was no version 1.1.3
1.1.2 (17 May 2004)
• Quick bug fix for the screen-saver overlay code
1.1.1 (16 May 2004)
• Added ability to specify inclusion/exclusion of specific calendars
• Added the ability for special events to be seen 'over-the-horizon'
• The non all-day-events' titles no longer allocate space for 3 lines whether they are used or not (tell me what you think).
• Events in a different time zone now display correctly for this time zone. For example an event starting at 9 am in another timezone was displayed in iCalViewer as starting at 9 am.
1.1 (16 April 2004)
• Added to do viewing
• Moved the icon from The Dock to the menu bar
• Added interactivity (you can double-click on items to go to the item in iCal)
• Added many colour preferences
• Added an 'expose' hotkey
• Changed the lookahead to allow specification of units (hours, weeks etc)
• Fixed some bugs...
1.0.8 (31 January 2004)
- Addressed (hopefully) the problem where events would leave pieces behind in 'trails'.
- Removed the annoying startup information dialogue.
1.0.7 (23 November 2003)
Fix to work with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and iCal 1.5.1. No added features.
1.0.6
Various intermediate versions released to the mailing list.
1.0.5 (16 August 2003)
- Internationalisation
Partial localisation has been provided for the following languages:
Japanese (thanks Wesley!)
German (thanks luc!)
Norwegian (thanks Terje!)
Swedish (thanks Ola!)
If you would like to see iCalViewer display in your language, send ma an email (kgg@mac.com)!
- Going Left
Finally here. Default for new users.
- Beginning of List Window
This is the very beginning of a window that allows users to see their events as a text list that dynamically changes. I know it is very rudimentary and some things on it are just not right. However, this is a beginning and I welcome your input (kgg@mac.com)!
- Bug Fixes
There were some problems with moving a single event in a series, and potential display artifacts in transparent windows. Hopefully, they and other bugs have been fixed!
1.0.4 (4 June 2003)
A couple of small bug fixes and drawing tune-ups
Return of the screen saver!
1.0.3 (31 May 2003)
- New display regime. All day events are always proportional and 'stack' downwards from the top of the screen. All other events stack from the bottom. This is an experiment. Tell me what you think!
- Display of dates are now much more 'relative'.
- Only those calendars selected in iCal will be displayed.
- iCalViewer now updates itself live.
- Much less use of cpu.
- Bug fixes.
- New icon. Thanks to luc (luc@lucdesign.com).
- Completed events 'fade' out...
1.0.2 - 25/4/2003
I have been notified of a bug which is, in my opinion, serious enough to require an update (see the first fix below). However, there are also a couple of changes that might be of interest.
I have changed the display of 'time to go' to show more relevant units. For example, if an event is due to start in less than a day, it will display the time in hours and minutes.
The units displayed are
weeks, days
days, hours
hours, minutes
minutes, seconds
(whichever is relevant).
I think this is an improvement on the previous HH:MM:SS display, but if you don't like it, please tell me so! (Tell me if you like it as well!)
1.0.1 - Bug fix release.
20/4/2003
This release only contains bug fixes, several of which were brought to my attention by feedback from kind people. Thank you!
- International text should now display properly.
- Events on the desktop no longer 'cover' desktop icons.
- Addressed some problems with the configuration panel of the screen saver and preferences.
- Various smaller fixes
- Some speed-ups. More to come...
1.0 - First release (10 April 2003).
