What are those grey boxes?

You will find two grey boxes when you first start iCalViewer. One is for to do's, and the other for "Special Events". Special events are events you can mark so that you can see them in this box, even if they are beyond the normal display horizon. Read about them in the manual which is available off the Help... menu in the iCalViewer menu.

How do I move those boxes?

You can move the Special Events and To Do boxes, but not in Desktop mode*... What you have to do is to go into Exposé mode by selecting the "Expose" menu item, or pressing the hot key (F8 by default). Here, you can drag the boxes around, and you can resize them via the bottom right corner. When you leave Exposé mode, the positions and sizes will be remembered.

* Interaction with iCalViewer is disabled in Desktop mode because of problems working with The Finder.

How do I get rid of the boxes?

Both grey boxes have enabling checkboxes in in the preferences. The to do box is enabled by the "Enable" checkbox in the "To do's" tab, and the Special Events box is enabled by the "Enable Special Events List" checkbox in the "Events" tab.

Problems

(Please note that these are old issues and I don’t believe that they are a problem any more.)

• "EWSMac.framework" folders appear in the Trash.

It appears that there is a bug in a particular version of this third-party framework used by iCalViewer.

The solution is to download and use the latest version of iCalViewer.

If the problem persists, quit iCalViewer, remove the following folder, then try iCalViewer again.

~/Library/Application Support/eSellerate/

(You can do this by copying the above line, then switch to The Finder and select Go>Go to Folder (command-shift-G) and paste this address, hit return and then move the contents of the folder to the Trash.)

• Registration information is ignored - the program reverts to free mode.

This may also be due to third-party software. Please follow the above instructions. If the problem persists, please contact me.

• A registered and properly entered the serial number, will not be recognised if iCalViewer's path contains accented letters.

There is a bug where this problem will happen if you have an accented character (e.g. é, ü â etc) in the name of any of the folders containing iCalViewer - that is, in its path. It is beyond my control, but I am working on getting it fixed. In the mean time, just move iCalViewer to a folder without accented characters in it path, and all should be ok.
